HH Gregg Signs on as National Launch Partner for Energy Power™ Soundbars

INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 5, 2012) — Energy, a Klipsch Group, Inc.(KGI) brand and industry leader in audio engineering and development, announces today that HH Gregg is to serve as a national retail launch partner for the brand’s first-ever soundbars. This month, HH Gregg’s 208 nationwide stores will implement point-of-purchase displays for both the Energy Power™ Bar and Energy Power™ Bar Elite. Perhaps most exciting, the news extends a relationship between the two Indianapolis, Ind.-headquartered companies that dates back six years.

Known for their sonic accuracy, dramatic spatial reproduction of the live concert performance and seamless plug n’ play functionality, the Energy Power soundbars enter the prestigious speaker lineup and help diversify the brand’s product offering for added audio solutions. Unique to Energy speakers, the CSM technology places tweeters and mid-woofers in close proximity to act as a single source for coherent, seamless dispersion. Featuring a world-class design and innovative audio technologies, the soundbars stay true to Energy sound principles and present unrivaled flat on-axis frequency response and minimal levels of distortion and resonance.

As a two-way soundbar, the Energy Power Bar houses two soft-domed tweeters and two 3-inch drivers for clear, distortion-free sound reproductions. Available in a satin-black finish, the Energy Power Bar exudes a contemporary look and is the perfect companion for high-definition picture and a necessary substitute for underwhelming flat-screen speakers. Included with the Energy Power Bar is a powerful, eight-inch subwoofer with a down-firing fiber composite cone and ported enclosure for precise, room-filling bass performance.

Unlike most soundbars, the Energy Power Bar Elite utilizes a true, two-way speaker driver design similar to that used in a fine music speaker. Its .75-inch tweeter is matted to dual 3-inch mid-bass drivers for detailed, high-output sound for almost any size room. With a built-in Dolby Digital Decoder, the soundbar reproduces detailed, high-quality sound no matter the format of sound that comes from a television. In addition, the Energy Power Bar Elite features 3D Surround Mode available with the touch of a button that adds spaciousness to the sound, simulating a true 5.1 home theater experience. Accompanying the soundbar is a commanding 10-inch wireless, side-firing subwoofer that immediately connects once plugged into a power source – no other wires necessary.

“Energy was in need of strong national play for what are the first powered soundbars from the Klipsch Group as a whole,” said Paul Jacobs, CEO of KGI. “With the Energy Power Bar and Energy Power Bar Elite in HH Gregg stores, we will gain an immeasurable amount of brand awareness, and most importantly, a new chapter in our relationship with a reputable consumer electronics company that shares our same home.”

The Energy Power Bar and Energy Power Bar Elite retail for $399.99 and $599.99 respectively (U.S. MSRP). Both products will be available in each HH Gregg location by mid-January.

INDIANAPOLIS (November 22, 2011) — Energy, a Klipsch Group, Inc. brand and industry leader in audio engineering and development, announces today the introduction of the Energy Power™ Bar Elite, the brand’s second soundbar debuting in the Energy Power™ Series. Employing plug n’ play functionality, Dolby® Digital Decoding and 3D Surround Mode, this soundbar instantly upgrades any sound system with undeniable power.

Known for their sonic accuracy and dramatic spatial reproduction of the live concert experience, the Energy Power Bar Elite enters the prestigious speaker lineup for precise yet effortless sound. Featuring a world-class design and innovative audio technologies, the soundbar stays true to Energy sound principles and presents unrivaled flat on-axis frequency response and minimal levels of distortion and resonance.

Included with the Energy Power Bar Elite is a commanding 10-inch wireless, side-firing subwoofer that immediately connects with the soundbar once plugged into a power source – no other wires necessary. Available in a matte black finish, the compact subwoofer seamlessly integrates into any living environment and can be easily setup to be controlled with many existing television remote controls. The soundbar also comes with a 1.5m optical cable, one RCA cable, credit card style remote, a pair of rubber feet, as well as a wall-mounting template.

Unique to Energy speakers, the CSM technology places tweeters and mid-woofers in close proximity to act as a single source for coherent, seamless dispersion. Most important, the 3D Surround Mode requires no distinct speaker placement, special room requirements or specific program material to work properly.

“We developed the Energy Power Bar Elite to both significantly improve television and movie surround and give consumers the option of simulating a multi-speaker system,” said Tommy Jacobs, director of customer development for Energy. “Unfortunately, today’s high-style televisions utilize thin cabinets that are incapable of clear, room-filling sound. With our latest soundbar, users experience an instant home theater upgrade as soon as they plug in – no additional equipment or wires needed.”

The Energy Power Bar Elite will retail for $599.99 (U.S. MSRP) and be available through authorized Energy retailers in November 2011.

INDIANAPOLIS (January 6, 2011) — Klipsch Group, Inc.(KGI), owner of the Klipsch®, Energy®, Mirage® and Jamo® audio brands, is announcing today the launch of the Wireless Subwoofer Kit, the company’s first ever product that offers superior wireless flexibility to its high-performance subwoofers through plug ‘n play functionality.

Powerful bass is one thing, but powerful bass that can be placed anywhere in a room to achieve the best possible sound is another. The wireless subwoofer kit, model WA-2 (Wireless Access), connects directly to the “WA port” on the rear panel of select Klipsch, Mirage, Energy, and Jamo subwoofer models so-equipped. This wireless kit allows for convenient bass enhancement of music, home theater and whole-house audio systems. It also allows a consumer to transfer the LFE (Low Frequency Effects) signal wirelessly from an AV receiver, for example, to a compatible KGI subwoofer. The unique WA-2 allows for significant enhancement of whole-house audio / in-wall / in-ceiling systems, often lacking in bass response, through flexible placement of the subwoofer(s) into various rooms delivering rich, powerful sound. Up to six or more wireless sub kits can be used in a typical household.

“The last thing consumers want in a home theater or whole-house sound system is more wires,” said Mark Casavant, vice president of product development for KGI. “Not to mention as televisions are becoming thinner, home theater components need to undergo makeovers to ensure their aesthetics match that of today’s consumers’ tastes. Our WA-2 wireless subwoofer kit appeals to mainstream consumers and audiophiles alike who want a wireless subwoofer without sacrificing sound performance.“

The two-piece kit is composed of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter plugs into the “Sub/LFE out” or “L/R pre-out” port of any stereo/home theater component. The receiver plugs into the “WA port” on the back of the KGI subwoofer. A simple pairing process syncs the transmitter and receiver the first time they are used; after that, the sub is automatically activated as soon as an LFE signal is sent. This accessory is meant to add simplistic wireless capability to the already superior performing KGI subwoofers, including the Klipsch SW-110, SW-112, SW-308, SW-310, SW-311; the Energy ESW-M6 and ESW-M8; the Mirage MM-6,MM-8 and the Jamo Sub 800.

“Because powerful bass extension has long been at the heart of Klipsch Group brands, we wanted to make it easy and hassle-free for our customers,” said Casavant. “By incorporating advanced wireless technology into an easy-to-use product, we’re now able to deliver our renowned sound at the most user-friendly level.”

The WA-2 will available for purchase at select retailers and klipsch.com in summer 2011.

Energy® Take Classic Sounds Bigger Than it Looks

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (May 13, 2010) — When Energy set out to design its Take Classic, the goal was to combine elegant style, compact dimensions and immense sound into an affordable 5.1 surround sound package. The speaker brand, owned by Klipsch Group, Inc., obviously hit the mark when the system earned a prominent Editors’ Choice Award for its “excellent sound quality at an almost unbelievably affordable price tag.”

“We wanted the Take Classic to build on the success of our Take 5, a speaker system that was introduced in 1997 and won over 20 awards in a three-year time span,” said Mark Casavant, vice president of product development for Klipsch Group, Inc. “What’s great is that the Classic offers improved features, while costing $200 less than the Take 5 did over a decade ago.”

Consisting of four matching satellites that serve as dynamic front and surround channels, a center channel speaker for crisp dialogue, and a powerful subwoofer for amazing bass response, the Take Classic features a high-gloss black finish—so it looks as good as it sounds.

Standing less than 7 inches high and weighing less than 3 pounds, each magnetically-shielded satellite is a bass-reflex design with a rear-firing port. All four of these speakers utilize a proprietary Convergent Source Module (CSM) with a 3-inch poly-titanium woofer and a ¾-inch hyperbolic aluminum-dome tweeter for a dynamic frequency range and expansive soundstage.

Energy’s CSM technology, which was originally developed for its flagship Veritas Series, positions the midrange and tweeter in close proximity to one another so they act like a single source, thereby increasing overall dispersion and reducing any lobing effect. Furthermore, the chambering of the mid and tweeter lowers the driver’s resonance, reducing distortion.

The 3-pound magnetically-shielded center channel has all the same features and technologies as the satellites, except for the fact it employs dual front-firing ports.

Completing the system’s bottom-end performance is a hard-hitting compact subwoofer with a front-firing port. It employs an 8-inch driver with a patented Ribbed Elliptical Surround coupled to an efficient 200-watt amplifier. This proprietary design eliminates surround distortion, enabling the subwoofer to play lower with greater output and fidelity.

System setup is fast and easy, and the Take Classic givers users a variety of mounting and placement options via the keyhole slots, threaded inserts and rubber bumpers that accompany the satellites and center channel. These speakers are also equipped with mini five-way binding posts for high-quality connection

Priced at $600 (U.S. MSRP), the Energy Take Classic is now available for purchase exclusively through Amazon.com. In August, Newegg.com will also sell the product.

As a 2009 Innovations honoree in the home theater speakers category, the ESW-M6 was selected for this prestigious accolade by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and trade journalists. Evaluating products in 34 consumer electronics categories, the judges based their decisions on the following criteria: engineering qualities, aesthetic and design qualities, user value and novel features.

An 8-inch cube, the ESW-M6 is a high-output design that features a 6.5-inch black anodized aluminum cone woofer and dual 6.5-inch passive radiators. These light, rigid cones provide tight bass response and dissipate both driver and amplifier heat. Much of the added performance comes from Energy’s Ribbed Elliptical Surrounds. This technology allows the drivers to perform with lower distortion and greater output, compared to the traditional half-roll surrounds that most subwoofers offer. The subwoofer also utilizes a new, efficient digital amplifier rated at 800 watts. A proprietary protection circuit prevents overdriving, which can cause distortion.
Plus, it provides placement options that we’ve never offered before.”

The furniture-grade high gloss black finish on the MDF cabinet comes from seven layers of polyurethane, each hand-sanded to achieve exceptional shine and durability.
The ESW-M6 also features line and sub inputs and a 50Hz–200Hz variable low-pass filter with bypass mode.
Available through select specialty retail outlets, the ESW-M6 carries a U.S. MSRP of $600 each.

Energy® RC-Micro—Big Accurate Sound, Small Speakers

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (August 4, 2008)—Raising Energy’s 35-year legacy in acoustic research and development to new levels of performance, the RC-Micro home theater is designed to combine high style and immense sound in a remarkably compact 5.1 speaker package.

According to Energy product manager Ben Burko, the RC-Micro represents a real breakthrough: “Since its introduction, our Take Classic home theater system has been lauded for its performance and minimal size. With these new, smaller home audio speakers, center channel speaker and subwoofer, our engineers have delivered audiophile quality sound from our smallest enclosures yet.”

Consisting of four matching speakers for front and surround sound channels, a center channel for highly accurate dialogue and a small, but mighty, subwoofer for amazing bass response, all of the RC-Micro components feature sonically inert MDF cabinets with a high-gloss black lacquer finish.

Standing just 4.7 inches high and weighing slightly over a pound, each RC-Micro SAT speaker has a .5-inch hyperbolic chambered aluminum dome tweeter and 2.5-inch high excursion aluminum cone micro-driver. Energy’s proprietary Convergent Source Module (CSM) technology (originally developed for the company’s flagship Veritas series) positions the woofer and tweeter in close proximity to one another to act as a single source, thereby increasing overall dispersion and reducing any lobing effect. Each of the components is housed in its own chamber, lowering resonance and allowing higher power handling, as well as eliminating unwanted interaction with each other. “The performance results can only be described as tantric,” added Burko.

RC-Micro

Magnetic shielding on the small speakers (and center channel) prevents interference with standard CRT televisions. Offering amazing placement flexibility, the RC-Micro SATs feature a built-in keyhole slot and a ¼-inch-20 threaded insert for wall mounting.

The RC-Micro Center speaker, which provides crisp dialogue and stunning audio effects, has a driver configuration identical to the satellites, ensuring that it is perfectly timbre matched with the rest of the home audio system to deliver incredible midrange accuracy and low distortion. It also includes gold plated push connectors for optimal connection and long-lasting performance.

Deep, resounding bass makes movies come to life. The RC-Micro’s surprising low-frequency performance comes from a hard-hitting 240-watt ESW-CS8 compact subwoofer with a down-firing port. The 8-inch injection-molded woofer utilizes the patented Ribbed Elliptical Surround design, which eliminates surround distortion and enables the subwoofer to play lower with greater output and fidelity for incredibly clean bass effects.

“Whether it’s the explosive effects of your favorite action film, your favorite music or the dynamics of a video game soundtrack, the RC-Micro’s power and performance will amaze everyone. Best of all, although they’re totally unobtrusive, when you do notice them, their appearance is every bit as appealing as their sound,” Burko noted.

Available in September through the mass and specialty retail channels, the RC-Micro home theater system will be sold at $999 U.S. MSRP*.

INDIANAPOLIS, IND (August 4, 2008)—Home theater fans and music lovers can now experience big bass performance from the Energy brand’s two new amazingly compact subwoofers featuring proprietary technologies.

According to Energy product manager Ben Burko, the new subwoofers’ small size is deceptive: “Even with the incredibly compact size of the woofers and passive radiators, the deep bass sound from both of the new ESW subwoofers is comparable to much larger units.

The high-output models feature black anodized aluminum cone woofers and dual passive radiators. Additional benefits include increased excursion and larger piston area, allowing for greater efficiency.

The ESW-M8 employs an 8-inch woofer and two 8-inch passive radiators, while the ESW-M6 has a 6.5-inch woofer and 6.5-inch dual passive radiators. The ESW-M8 has a new, efficient digital amplifier rated at 1200 watts and the ESW-M6 delivers 800 watts. Proprietary protection circuits on both models prevent overdriving, which can cause distortion.

The furniture-grade high gloss black finish on the MDF cabinets comes from seven layers of polyurethane, each hand-sanded to achieve exceptional shine and durability.
Energy® Updates Connoisseur Speaker Series

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (August 4, 2008)—For the Energy® brand, its Connoisseur® Series has long been a favorite among home theater aficionados and music lovers alike; the most recent changes to these home audio speakers are sure to take their popularity to new heights.

According to Energy product manager Ben Burko, “This evolution of the Connoisseur series now incorporates many of the same technological advantages found in our flagship speakers. The line really exemplifies the key audio principles that Energy is known for: high quality materials; accurate, revealing sound and exceptional value.”

The newest additions to the Connoisseur family include three tower speakers, the CF-70, CF-50 and CF-30; three bookshelves, the CB-20, CB10 and CB-5; the CC-10 and CC-5 center channels and the unique bipole/dipole surround sound speaker, the CR-10. All of these home audio speakers, except for the CR-10, feature a stunning black ash finish with high gloss black baffles that make them as attractive with their grilles on, as off. The surround sound speaker’s finish is all black ash.

Perhaps the single biggest change to the series is the addition of the Convergent Source Module, or CSM. Found on Energy’s ultra-premium Veritas® speaker line, the CSM positions the hyperbolic aluminum dome tweeters (on all of the speakers) and midrange, or woofer (depending on the speaker) in a single unit. This arrangement provides wide dispersion with low distortion and amazing midrange performance.

Adding to the Connoisseur line’s performance is the use of Energy’s Ribbed Elliptical Surrounds on the woofers. This technology allows the drivers to perform with lower distortion and greater output, compared to the traditional half-roll surrounds that most competitors offer. Additional benefits include increased excursion and larger piston area, allowing for greater efficiency. The multi-woofer models offer new tapered crossovers that decrease lobing to improve the speakers’ dispersion characteristics. Ported cabinets—on every model except the surround—also work to extend bass performance.

The totally new CR-10 surround speaker incorporates a unique switchable bipole/dipole circuit that allows more complete adjustment to the room characteristics. A second tweeter, mounted on top of the speaker reflects the sound off of the ceiling, adding further flexibility to room placement.

Placement options also abound for the bookshelf speakers and the CC-5 center channel; all of these speakers have threaded inserts. Gold plated 5-way binding posts ensure positive connections and the tower models offer the option of bi-wire or bi-amp connection with their dual post configuration.

“Although the name hasn’t changed,” Burko noted, “the new Connoisseur series is anything but more of the same; this generation of speakers has been engineered to offer premium quality and real value.”

Scheduled for a September release, the Energy Connoisseur speakers will be sold at the following U.S. MSRP pricing: CF-70, $500 each; CF-50, $400 each; CF-30, $300 each. The CB-20 bookshelf is priced at $350 per pair, the CB-10 at $250 per pair and the CB-5 is $180 per pair. The CC-10 center channel is $300, while the CC-5 is priced at $200. The CR-10 surround is $350 per pair*. They are available through select specialty retailers.
